Room Recipes

Interior design whiz Tonya Olsen is hosting a blog tour to celebrate the release of her new book, “Room Recipes.”

From exciting entryways to DIY dining rooms, these tried-and-true interior design recipes are the ultimate resource for homeowners looking to spice things up or decorate a space from scratch. With this book, creating a show-stopping master suite or home office is as simple as cooking dinner—just follow the instructions! Turn your house into your dream home one room at a time by incorporating these no-fail recipes for delicious designs.

My Thoughts: When I first saw this book was available for review I jumped at the chance. I’m horrible at interior decorating (my particular creativity doesn’t extend to being able to put together awesome looking rooms). I worried a bit that the book might be one of those no way can I afford or possibly pull together a room like that.

I’m happy to report it’s not. It’s an amazing book, full of different styles to please nearly any taste, covering every room from the bathroom to the kitchen to the bedroom to living areas. It even covers entryways. And everything in it is doable to even someone like me.

The book is laid out in sections of rooms, then each room gives a full picture of the room with a color palette, the specific “ingredients” (furnishings, wall hangings, etc.), a room recipe which gives ideas for how to put it all together as well as what is used in the room, and in some cases specific instructions for how to create a particular piece. Just flipping through the book sparked an excitement in me to try some of the ideas.

As most of you know, I’m currently selling my home and will be moving into a new place soon. I can hardly wait to get there and start implementing some of the ideas from this book. Thanks to Tonya Olsen and all of the designers who contributed their “rooms” to this spectacular book.

Tonya's blog tour will run from September 23 through October 31. You can find out more about the book and about Tonya at the official blog tour web page: http://blog.cedarfort.com/blog-tour-room-recipes/
